The National Firebird and Trans Am Club was founded in 1984 in Chicago as
the National Firebird Club (NFC) at the Burwood Tavern in Lincoln Park,
Chicago, Illinois. The member magazine was initially printed using a copier.
This was changed in to using Whitfield-Liberty Press in Glenview in 1985
with magazine mailing preparation done by the officers.
In 1996, we changed printers to Newsweb in Chicago, Illinois and began
publishing the member magazine, the Eagle with color on 8 pages. In 1996,
the name was changed to the National Firebird and Trans Am Club to better
reflect that we were a club for all models of Pontiac Firebirds.
In 2000, the eEagle is published for the
first time as an additional publication sent to members by email.
In 2009, we changed printers to Leesburg Printing in Florida with the
printer doing the magazine mailing preparation. In 2010, we began publishing
the member magazine 4 times per year instead of the previous 7 magazines
every 2 years. In 2012 we changed printers to Johnson Press in Pontiac,
Illinois with 16 pages of color and the magazine being mailed in poly wrap
to better protect it during mailing. In 2016, we changed to full color
printing with the August 2016 issue and cancelled the long time post office
box address that was used since the beginning of the club.
The National Firebird and Trans Am Club now serves the interests of
Firebird, Trans Am and Formula owners throughout North America. The NFTAC
offers, magazines, emagazines, technical advice, member recommendations on
service, body and parts sources, registration of your Firebird or Trans Am,
a tradition of service and FREE member classified ads that appear in the
EAGLE club magazine, the eEAGLE club member email newsletter AND on the on
the club website and on the club message board.
