Title: dash repair of radio opening
Post by: cwi inspector on January 21, 2010, 12:39:00 AM
Does anyone know of a way to repair the dash in a 79 TA where the radio goes. Like many of the dashes it has been cut to install an aftermarket stereo. I would like to put an original radio back in.

yes find a old cheap cracked dash that has the radio not cut. cut it out of the dash ( big ) . then using a grinder trim it until it fits. use a good epoxy to attach it to the dash.  you need to take your dash out to do this, so you can see the fit of it on the inside. then you can lay fiber glass & resin around it on the inside.

you may find one on here. post it in parts wanted.  just ask for the radio part you need. cut it big . and will save on shipping.

but if yours is cracked , look for a uncut dash and get a dash cap for it. the caps look OK if put on right.
