Title: Hesitation

I need advice. I’ve got a 1988 Firebird 2.8 liter V6. Just got it last month. So it drove away from the owner, and was kind of hesitant. Then one day, it just wouldn’t start. It gave me codes to replace a few things, and I did.  I have installed new plus,  wires, distributor cap and rotor. I did not mess with the actual distributor, so I didn’t change the timing).

I changed the throttle position sensor, the battery and the air filter. I did an oil change, and a transmission filter and fluid change. I changed the O2 sensor, installed a brand new fuel tank (rust inside), fuel pump, fuel pump relay, and fuel filter.

It keeps throwing code 54, which is fuel pump circuit,  low voltage. The car cranks, starts, then almost immediately stops,. I’m at a loss here people. I have changed the fuel tank sending unit, filter and relay. What am I missing? Any help or advice is appreciated!

Rust particles from the fuel tank will get past the filter and build up in the fuel injectors and restrict the flow. Pull the fuel rail off the injectors and look inside the injectors. That was a problem I ran across. My tank was rusted also and had to replace it.

Also check the fuses and connections..
