Title: 79 water temp sending unit.
Post by: clayton on October 09, 2008, 08:31:34 PM
can anyone explain to me why im not getting a water temp reading. i have a new water temp sending unit and it is connected to the gauge and i dont seem to be getting a reading on my water temp when i know the temp is high enough to show on the gauge.... the gauge is the stock instrument cluster so could it be possible that the gauge itself is faulty or is there something else thats needed to get the sending unit to work?

Yes, it could be the gauge that is not working.  I would get a tester and start at the sending unit ans see what kind of resistance you are getting.  Then start working your way back to the gauge itself and see what readings you get.

yeah im sure that could be it. but what can i do to fix the guage since it is in the cluster panel? do they make replacement guages? can it be disassembled to replace each gauge?

thank you again
