Title: no maf sensor, good or bad?
Post by: dbytor on June 07, 2009, 10:50:39 PM
I have a 1996 Trans Am that I drive without a mass airflow sensor. When it is plugged in it idles very rough. I get a code on the scanner for the sensor and the connection. I bought a new one from autozone and a performance maf, and nothing changed. I drive without it, and it runs strong. Am I doing any damage, or is this ok? I hear of people using descreened or perf. mafs, but no maf deleting. Any ideas.....?

Have you done any mods to the car's engine?  If you did, but you didn't reprogram the ECM, you'd probably get a rough idle and throw a code.
