I'm looking to purchase a 79' smokey and the bandit edition for $3500 and I'm wondering if this is a good deal?  Can someone please give me an insight on this?  I know it will take $$ to make it nice so I'm wondering if it is worth $3500 in current condition. thanks in advance.  see seller notes below:

-403 motor

-No rust
-Runs WELL
-108,854 miles
-Black suede interior- in excellent condition!

You know we need to see pics.  8)
as long as you no for sure its a SE car and not made to look like it. make sure it has the PHS paper work and a build sheet. the build sheet is about the only way to prove it an SE car in 79.
what is on the body tag? the dash and shifter bezel will be gold. the ws6 will be 4 wheel disk with 8x15 wheels, front wheeel disk will be 7x15. the large gold bird on the sail panel.  just make sure its a true SE car. look fo any signs of a past pant job.

car sold w/in the same day...true SE. Owner purchased to rebuild but was losing his job so he was desperate to sell.  He originally purchased from the original owner who only wanted to sell to him.  The paint/interior was all original.......great buy!  My good friend owns one that he purchased in 88' with all the documentation for $1500.....he still has it w/ only 85k miles.  I would love to purchase it from him but he won't let it go.
I had a 77' SE that I purchased for $1500 w/ minor rust and when I started a family I sold it for $1900 w/ the 8 track and everything......crazy!  I pray to God I find another one.

thanks for everything

In 1979, would the special edition have had the 403? I guess I thought all the S.E's had standard transmissions and the 400. I could be very very wrong. I have a 79 gold T.A. with the 403 myself. Unfortunately it is very obvious that it is not an S.E. as it has front discs only and the onlyapparent option on this Trans Am is the air conditioning. Common for the California built car that it is. I keep looking for the build sheet and I will be going the PHS route soon. Don't get me wrong, I still love my car. Pictures in the photo gallery.
