1986 Trans Am rear spoiler repair
« on: June 20, 2010, 12:12:10 PM »
I have a black rear spoiler that is tearing in a few places and is coming loose from the deck lid.  Is there a way to repair the material or a source for a black replacement spoiler?

The problem you're having here is common.  The spoilers are urethane over a steel frame, and over time, the steel rusts and loses its integrity, and the spoiler begins to warp and break.  Your best bet is going to be a fiberglass replacement such as those you can get from Hawks' Third Gen.  The price is fair and most people can't tell it's not original until they touch it.  You'll have to get it prepped and painted, but it fits right on quite nicely.
