3rd gen afermarket exhaust question
« on: April 21, 2012, 06:22:37 PM »
I have a 1984 Recaro TA L69.  Bought from CA so it has CA emissions stuff on it.  Looking to install a new Cat converter and cat-back system from Magnaflow.  Noticed that there is  metal pipe that runs from the cat to the engine block. (O2 sensor?).

Question: If I replace this converter with a 49 state converter will I run into trouble with anything else?  Will the Check Engine light come one continuously or something annoying or something more serious...

Thanks!

Chuck

Air pump pipe probably. That pipe pumps fresh air to the cat to make it burn at a very hot temp to catalyze the exhaust emissions. If u remove the pipe it might clog the cat up on u depends on what kind of cat you buy. Hope this helps.
