Knocking when cold
« on: January 15, 2015, 07:56:39 PM »
Hi everyone,
I am a brand new member.  Just bought my son a 2002 FB convertible for his very first car.
Need your ideas...when the 3.8 liter engine is cold (and I mean sitting without being started for two or more days cold) I have a very noticeable knocking in the engine.  Once it's warm it smooths out.  I know it's probably a sticking piston/valve or something related but I would like to tap into the membership expertise and get your opinions on a possible fix.  I am no mechanic, but I know how to get into an engine for something simple (valve cover gasket, for example).  Any ideas?

Find a shop that handles BG products and get a Can (pt. i think) of MOA ( stands for motor oil additive) put it in your oil it may help and should be around $10 or less. It helps clean sticking valves.
