Expertise needed over here. What is the best brand for polishing my '79 Firebird? Also, I have the snowflake wheels, anything specific for wheels like Mother's metal polish? Thankful for any info amidst the hundreds of products out there. Also, I was also told not to use a power polisher on old clearcoat and should polish by hand and I'm hoping that's not true.

I've used multiple stages of Meguiar's cutting/polishing compounds and done all by hand. It is amazing what it can do to old black paint. Then I did a full wax afterwards with Meguiar's gold class. My daily driver, a beat up old 2001 Mustang with factory old dull paint came out unbelievably well.
I was thoroughly impressed with this stuff. Very much worth the effort,
The red line and number indicates the abrasiveness. The higher the number the more abrasive. I worked from left to right across these products. Took a long time but so worth it. The wax I used is the black bottle .
