1995 Firebird Formula Gas Filler Hose

I have a serious problem with my 1995 Firebird Formula V8. My gas leaks when I fill it up. I need new filler hose connected to the gas tank by clamps. I took the car in today to a mechanic and he said it was one piece and had to replace the whole tank. Is that true? I wonder if they are correct?

It's a one piece part unfortunately. One of the genius ideas GM came up with in the 90's. You may also want to replace the fuel pump too and put a brand new one in the tank as it's hard to replace to begin with.
