1994 Trans Am - need opinions
« on: May 10, 2007, 07:56:04 PM »
Hi-

I'm considering the purchase of a 1994 Trans Am, 19,000 original miles in pristine condition (for $10K).  I know the owner well and am comfortable that the car is a clean original.  The car has been off the road for a few years but gets started weekly and taken for a short run a couple of times per year.  I'm a little concerned that all the sitting may be an issue - thoughts?

HI:

The Big Decision!?

Itís up to you only you can decide // In my opinion it should be a fairly good buy.
It also depends on if it had a good maintenance schedule: Oil Change, Chassis Lubrication, Cooling System Maintenance, Transmission Fluid & Filter Change etc. / However a cars Braking System can become sketchy if the car was stored for a prolonged pried of time and it should be checked first before any series driving is done along with having good tries. // Hear again itís for you to decide.

Average price range for a 1994 Pontiac Trans Am GT see bellow:

Low Retail     Clean Retail Value     High Retail

Base Price                    $4,200                $5,350                $6,175

Mileage - 19,000 miles   $2,100                $2,100                $2,100

TOTAL PRICE               $6,300                $7,450                $8,275

                     Hope This Helps  :)

I am a NFTAC, Member and I was at one time an auto mechanic working for a local GM dealer here in my home town back in the mid-to late '80's now  I currently enjoy working on my own Pontiac's especially on my '85 T/A // making maintenance repairs, repairs, modifications and performance modifications I also enjoy meeting and /or talking to other Firebird & T/A owners an get into technical debates;hopefully just as long as the debate's doesn't go into a to heated argument.

Thanks for the input.  I drove the car on Friday - seems to run great, lots of power.  I know the price is a littlr high based on blue book but scanning the autotrader and other sights there are none to be found at this price with this mileage.  Also, original owner is a plus.  Bottom line is I'll be making the purchase!  Thanks again
