Electrical Diagram for Power Windows?
« on: June 23, 2007, 04:02:38 PM »
I hope there is someone who can help me.

I have a 1980 Turbo Trans Am with power windows.

Last week I decided to finally replace the carpet. This is quite a feat for someone who only knows how to change the oil.

When I replaced the carpet, I began to put things back together. When it came to installing the windows switch in the middle console, the clip holding the five wires came off. As I grabbed the clip, all five wires fell out of their slots.

I have a production manual but couldn't find anything to do with the window switch.

Does someone have a schematic they can email me? If not, let me know which wire goes where from left to right. The other thing is when I look at the clip, it can only attach one way - with the wires showing - is this correct?

Also, if someone has a 1980 with power windows, perhaps you can remove the switch (CAREFULLY!) and let me know what you have. A photo would be even better.

Thanks!

P.S, Yes I know I should have taken a photo - but we are in between cameras right now.

You're right it only fits the one way. Plus the wires should have stayed
bent in the right position. Holler again if you really need a diagram.

Joe,

Thanks for your response!

Yes I need a diagram. The wires still are not working.

Please email it (them) to JBriggsual@msn.com

Thanks!

John

 '79 had a relay, '80 didn't but they didn't show a diagram.
 '81 had a diagram though.

 Here's the '79 setup.

 And the '81...

Somewhere between the two I think you'll have enough info.
