Smokey and the Bandit Turbo? 

Q:     A question about the 6.6 liter motor that was in the Trans Ams. I am talking about the one in Smokey and the Bandit. Somebody said the car had a turbo and that they were factory equipped.

I said the 6.6 never came factory equipped with a turbo. Maybe for the movie car, but that was it. Help me out. Did the 6.6 ever come with a turbo?

A:     In the original movie the car was a ‘77 and came with the 400 Pontiac engine. The second movie had the ‘80 or ‘81 Trans Am with the 301 turbo engine. Just depends on which movie you’re referencing. They never made a turbo on the 400.
