Q: I have a question concerning high performance tires. I have a '91 Formula 1-LE that came with Goodyear P245/50ZR/16 (Gatorback is what I believe they were called) on rims of 16x8 Deep Dish. The original ones are still on the car (garage kept), but I know I'm going to have to purchase new ones eventually. I'm not sure if I have searched correctly or not, but does anyone know if they are made anymore? From everything I can determine, they are not. I want to keep this car as close to original as possible.

Any suggestions on tires to replace the Goodyears with? Thanks!

Cathy Dennision

A1: I had the Gatorbacks on my '87 GTA. Worst handling tire ever. I purchased BFG Comp Trans Am's and my car handled like it was on rails.

A2: Kumho Ecsta ASX. Great value for the price and they should hold up really well unless you race.
