Sail Panel Replacement

Q:     Any ‘98-’02 owners that have had to have their sail panel replaced due to the bubbling paint issue? Was curious how much I should expect to pay for the body work and paint. I did pick up a new panel, but figured will wait to take it in.

A:     I started to notice it on my ‘99 a couple of years ago. I ended up finding out there was a service bulletin issued back around 2000 or so. Apparently from around 1999 I believe to 2002 they used an improper adhesive on the sail panel that gases off and reacts with the fiberglass panel causing the bubbling. The only cure for it is to remove and replace. If there any repair attempts made and then repainted the adhesive will gas off and cause the same problem again.
